A Season of Service: FISH in the Heart of Our Community
The past several weeks have been a beautiful reminder of what makes FISH so special: dedicated volunteers, meaningful partnerships, and a shared commitment to caring for our neighbors. From running shoes to food boxes to parade smiles, November and early December were full of moments that reflected the heart of our mission.
On Saturday, November 15, several of our FISH volunteers, along with our director, Anne, laced up their sneakers and participated in the Berryville Turkey Trot 5K. It was a fun and energetic way to show community spirit while supporting a beloved local tradition. Whether walking or jogging, our FISH team proudly represented an organization that believes in showing up—both in service and in solidarity. And a huge thank you to John Enders Fire Company and everyone who donated non-perishable items at the event.
Just a few days later, on Thursday, November 20, that same spirit carried us indoors as volunteers gathered at Duncan Memorial to prepare for our annual Thanksgiving food distribution. Together, we packed 100* boxes of food, each one destined to help a local household enjoy a nourishing holiday meal. It was a powerful afternoon of teamwork, generosity, and gratitude—one that reminded us how much can be accomplished when many hands work together with one purpose.
The season of connection continued on December 6, when FISH volunteers set up in front of the FISH building during Berryville’s annual Christmas parade. With candy in hand and smiles at the ready, we enjoyed greeting friends, neighbors, and parade-goers of all ages. It was a joyful way to kick off the Christmas season and celebrate the relationships that make our community so strong.
Each of these moments—big and small—reflects the heart of FISH. We are deeply thankful for our volunteers, supporters, and partners who continue to show up with generosity, enthusiasm, and kindness.
If you’d like to donate to FISH, you can give a monetary gift that helps us continue serving local individuals and families throughout the year. Every contribution—large or small—makes a meaningful difference.
As we look ahead to the weeks to come, we wish you and your loved ones a season filled with peace, joy, and hope.
From all of us at FISH, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
