Celebrating Our Volunteers: Hearts That Serve at FISH of Clarke County
At FISH of Clarke County, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. They dedicate their time, energy, and compassion to serving our neighbors through the food pantry and clothing store. Last week, we had the joy of celebrating them at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch.
Held at the FISH building on Main Street, the patio was filled with laughter, good food, and heartfelt gratitude. Tables were decorated with cheerful fall colors and bouquets of fresh flowers. A delicious lunch was provided by FISH Board member, Marie Walton. Thank you for providing a wonderful meal for us, Marie!
The afternoon was a wonderful reminder that FISH runs on people who care deeply about their community. From stocking pantry shelves and sorting clothing donations to greeting families with kindness and helping carry groceries to their cars, our volunteers ensure that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, respected, and valued.
During our lunch, FISH Board President, Mary Veilleux, shared words of appreciation for the many ways volunteers serve week after week. As the luncheon wrapped up, hugs were exchanged, new friendships formed, and everyone left with full hearts (and full plates). It was a sweet afternoon of reflection and gratitude—an opportunity to pause and say what we can never say enough: Thank you!
To all of our incredible volunteers—your kindness changes lives every single day. You are the heart of FISH, and our community is stronger because of you. Your quiet dedication is what keeps FISH strong and steady. Whether serving behind the scenes or face-to-face with clients, every act of kindness adds up to something truly extraordinary.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to make a difference right here at home, we invite you to join us. Come volunteer with FISH of Clarke County—you’ll find friendship, purpose, and the joy of helping your neighbors. From food drives and fundraisers to clothing donations and sponsorships, it takes a whole community to care well for one another—and Clarke County shows up beautifully.
Because together, we’re feeding hope, sharing love, and strengthening each other—one act of service at a time.
